Transit System: Chilliwack
FRASER VALLEY – Since the official launch of the Route #66 Fraser Valley Express (FVX) on April 6, the new interregional connector service is seeing positive growth after just two months.
The #66 FVX links BC Transit’s Chilliwack and Abbotsford systems to Langley and TransLink’s transit system. See official launch media release here and web page here.
-
Average weekday ridership has grown to more than 200 customers per day and is steadily increasing, with 17 round trips on weekdays and four round trips on Saturdays.
-
As requested by customers, the number of retail vendors selling fare products for the service has increased and is now available at three locations in Chilliwack, three in Abbotsford, and one each in Mission and Langley. The full list of the vendors is here.
-
On May 7, BC Transit announced the addition of online transit trip planning data for Abbotsford and Mission, to further improve customers’ ability to plan their bus journey in the Central Fraser Valley. See media release here.
-
BC Transit will provide an opportunity for FVX customers to provide their feedback when it conducts a formal ridership survey in October 2015 after six months of service.
Some testimonials received from customers, include:
-
Before the FVX I was spending $120 a month on bridge tolls and driving two hours a day. Now, I ride my bike to the bus and spend two hours reading. The bus has made my commute from Maple Ridge to Chilliwack both affordable and enjoyable. Meghan Stewart (parks employee with Fraser Valley Regional District)

I’m a student at the University of the Fraser Valley and live near campus (Abbotsford). When I got a co-op position in Chilliwack, commuting became the biggest challenge. The FVX is fast and convenient. It only takes 35 minutes to Chilliwack. The price of the monthly pass is very affordable, much cheaper than having car. The more people taking the FVX, the better environment we would live in. Matthew Fang (UFV student)
