Fare changes to route 60 Port Edward

Port Edward — New fare changes will be in effect for route 60 Port Edward in the Prince Rupert and Port Edward Transit System starting May 1, 2019.

BC Transit, the City of Prince Rupert and the District of Port Edward are announcing the change of their fare structure, which will impact the existing transferability of fare products between the two municipalities.

Zone changes will also take effect on May 1, alongside the new fare structure. Zone 1 applies to travel on route 60 Port Edward to Port Edward, north of Hillcrest Avenue on Skeena Drive. While Zone 2 applies to travel on route 60 Port Edward to North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site south of Hillcrest Avenue on Skeena Drive (see map below for details).

The new fare structure for the route 60 Port Edward will include new cash fare, which will be $3 for adults and $2.50 for students and seniors on the route 60 Port Edward. For travel to the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site in Zone 2, the cash fare will be $4 for all passengers. There will be no increase to cash fares on local routes in the Prince Rupert Transit System and handyDART.

The adult monthly pass for use on route 60 between Port Edward and Prince Rupert will now be $72 and the student and senior monthly passes will now be $60.

Transfers will still be available for customers travelling within the Prince Rupert Transit System. On route 60 Port Edward, transfers will only be distributed upon request when traveling Northbound towards Prince Rupert, for those wishing to transfer onto a Prince Rupert route. Transfers are not accepted on route 60 Port Edward when travelling South from Prince Rupert routes. Instead, route 60 Port Edward fare must be paid.
