Fare Change in September

FORT ST. JOHN – For the first time in five years, the cost of riding transit is increasing in Fort St. John. The new rates on cash fares, prepaid tickets and monthly passes are going in to effect on September 1, 2012.

Earlier this year, City Council in Fort St. John voted to increase adult fares to $2 a ride. Cash fares for seniors and students will be $1.75. Prepaid tickets in bundles of ten will now cost $18 for adults and $15.75 for seniors/students. Monthly passes will run $40 for adults and $35 for students/seniors.

>cash fares: $2 adults (former fare $1.50)
$1.75 seniors/students (former fare $1.25)
>prepaid tickets: $18 adults (former fare $13.50)
$15.75 seniors/students (former fare $11.30)
>monthly passes: $40 adults (former fare $30)
$21 seniors/students (former fare $21)

All revenue collected goes to the City of Fort St. John and will help offset the cost of running transit for municipal taxpayers.
