All decisions around fares and service levels are determined by the Regional District of Nanaimo. The cost of operating transit has increased, as has the demand for service with an ever-growing population. This fare change will support the Regional District of Nanaimo’s ability to improve and expand on service in the region in the coming years.
The last fare review took place in 2016 with the elimination of the discounted Senior/Youth Single Ride fare, at the same time, the Adult, Senior/Youth, University, and Semester Passes all received fare decreases.
The Regional District of Nanaimo will continue looking to balance funding sources to help maintain and improve service in the Nanaimo Regional Transit System. For more information about trip planning, schedules and to sign up for customer alerts, please visit bctransit.com/nanaimo.
