Fall service change for Victoria Regional Transit System

BC Transit is announcing a seasonal service change in the Victoria Regional Transit System, effective September 5, 2022.

As students return to class, school trips will return across the system, route 17 Cedar Hill will be reinstated and capacity levels will return to normal on route 81 Brentwood/Saanichton/Sidney/Swartz Bay.

Other changes:

  • A minor change for route 1 South Oak Bay/Downtown, as it will run along Fairfield to Douglas instead of Belleville

  • Routes 70 and 71 Swartz Bay/Downtown will serve new stops at Mount Newton Cross road in both directions

  • Route 51 Langford/UVic will receive additional trips to support the demand but will no longer operate with a double decker bus

With transportation upgrades underway along Government Street, the Legislature Bay ‘G’ terminal will be moving to westbound Belleville between Douglas and Government. This means that routes 30 Royal Oak Exchange/Downtown, 31 Royal Oak Exchange/Downtown and 75 Saanichton/Royal Oak/Downtown will begin and end at Belleville westbound.

BC Transit’s ridership has recovered to approximately 75 per cent on average across the province. BC Transit thanks riders in Victoria for their continued support as we gradually return to pre-pandemic levels.

BC Transit continues to recruit new transit operators to add more capacity. To learn more please visit bctransit.com/careers/drivewithus.
