Check out our ride: BC Transit brings a bus to two schools in Cranbrook

BC Transit and the City of Cranbrook are encouraging students at Parkland School and Laurie School to get onboard. During lunch hours this week a BC Transit bus will be outside of the schools for students to explore, talk to a driver, and learn how to read a riders guide.

The goal of bringing the bus to middle schools is to show students that public transit is an excellent option for getting to and from school, along with other activities. BC Transit promotes active transportation and sustainable transportation, and starting to build habits in middle school will help students consider diverse transportation options throughout their life.

The Cranbrook transit system includes eight routes that service the areas with elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. These routes also connect with other community locations such as the College of the Rockies and shopping centres.

Students from kindergarten to Grade 12 are eligible for discounted fares, including a monthly pass for $35. To give students a chance to get started, BC Transit will also be giving out fare prizes, including six one month student passes and 12 day passes.
