Celebrate Earth Day with free transit in the West Kootenay Transit System

WEST KOOTENAY — Join BC Transit, the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB), the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) and the City of Nelson in celebration of Earth Day on Thursday, April 22 by leaving your car at home and taking the bus for free in the West Kootenay Transit System!

BC Transit, the RDKB, the RDCK and the City of Nelson are proud to participate in Earth Day initiatives and are pleased to offer free transit on both conventional routes and handyDART services in the region throughout the day. Just hop on board and enjoy the ride!
Earth Day helps shine a spotlight on the importance of sustainability and encourages people to make choices that will help protect our environment. Choosing transit instead of driving is one easy way to take action. It not only helps to ease traffic congestion, but also decreases greenhouse emissions by reducing the number of vehicles on the road.

To support other sustainable transportation options, all conventional BC Transit buses are equipped with bike racks in the front. Check out some of BC Transit’s sustainability initiatives at bctransit.com/about/sustainability.

As a reminder, face coverings are mandatory on all BC Transit buses. Learn more about Earth Day history, activities, campaigns and more, by visiting earthday.org.
