Canada Day and BC Transit

VICTORIA – BC Transit will be operating on Sunday service levels for Canada Day. Extra buses will be on the road to accommodate the thousands of people who attend the Victoria Celebrates Canada Day event. Transit hours will also be extended so that the last buses leaving downtown Victoria will go at midnight. The fireworks show in the Inner Harbour generally wraps up by 10:35 pm, giving BC Transit riders plenty of time to make their way to loading areas along Douglas Street.

For the third consecutive year, alcohol is prohibited from being transported on our buses on Canada Day. In cooperation with the Victoria Police department, customers may be asked to prove they are complying with the one day policy.

Regular transit fares apply on Canada Day.

BC Transit staff will be handing out special Canada Day stickers (image above) to our young riders in the early evening hours. Our future riders are a constant reminder of how much fun and excitement are associated with taking public transit and traveling together in communities.

BC Transit encourages everyone to make safe choices while celebrating Canada Day whether it be at a large community event or simply spending time with family and friends.
