VICTORIA – Bus 9001, the first double decker to enter service in Victoria, has once again hit the streets in its original colours and design as part of BC Transit’s anniversary celebrations.
This year marks 20 years of double decker buses in the Victoria Regional Transit System, the first of their kind in North America. Before the original 10 buses retire early next year, bus 9001 has returned to service in the blue, red and white colours and design that were used in 2000.
Bus 9001, which has logged more than 1,120,000 kilometres, is servicing routes 14, 26 and 50 today. Routes and times will vary for this bus over the coming months, and it will be visible across the Victoria Regional Transit System.
This is an opportunity to further honour the original double decker buses, which had a major impact on BC Transit employees and customers. They have provided safe and reliable service during their two decades traveling throughout the region. They will be replaced with new double decker buses beginning in late January 2021.
