Big Changes for Transit Riders in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK – On July 2, 2012 a number of service expansions will take effect in the Chilliwack Transit System. An extra bus will join the fleet and 2,500 conventional service hours will be added.

To better meet the needs of BC Transit riders in Chilliwack, many routes have been simplified and direct service will be offered to both campuses of the University of the Fraser Valley, Stream Global Services and Walmart.

Transit users in the Yale/Vedder areas will enjoy 20 minute frequency on weekday runs. BC Transit has also added extra night runs until 9 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide more frequent and convenient transit services in Chilliwack,” said Chilliwack Mayor Sharon Gaetz. “Thank you to all the members of our community who offered input and suggestions for improving service and thank you to our partners, the Government of British Columbia and BC Transit, for listening to the needs of the Chilliwack bus ridership.”

“By extending evening hours and offering direct service to heavily populated centres in the Chilliwack area, we are best using our resources to better serve our customers,” said BC Transit President & CEO Manuel Achadinha
