BC Transit Rider Appreciation Port Alberni

PORT ALBERNI – On Friday, September 7, 2012 BC Transit and the City of Port Alberni are celebrating our community’s dedicated transit customers.

BC Transit Chief Operating Officer Mike Davis and Port Alberni Mayor John Douglas will be handing out cupcakes along with BC Transit safety lights, stickers and magnets.

The BC Transit Rider Appreciation celebration will be held at the new transit exchange at Redford and 12th Avenue from noon until 2 pm.

In late August, BC Transit introduced a new system in Port Alberni where all three bus routes meet at the new exchange. The change offered more frequent trips and more travel options.

BC Transit’s Rider Appreciation gives the residents of Port Alberni one more reason to celebrate on the Fall Fair weekend. The 67th Annual Alberni District Fall Fair runs September 6-9, 2012. BC Transit’s route #3 River Road and route #4 Crosstown (Sunday and evening service) delivers customers just a few blocks from the fairgrounds.

“I encourage everyone to take transit to the Alberni District Fall Fair,” said Mayor Douglas. “Try out our new public transit service. Leave your vehicles at home. Not only will you avoid driving and parking stresses, you can enjoy the fair knowing there’s a safe and affordable way home.”

“BC Transit is pleased to make these transit service changes for the City. The new routes and schedules will allow us to continue to increase ridership and to connect people and communities with efficient and effective transit service,” said BC Transit COO Davis.
