GLOBAL – For being an industry leader in offering an exceptional workplace for its 1,000 employees, BC Transit has been recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers for 2021.
“At BC Transit, we pride ourselves on providing our employees with a diverse, safe and engaging work environment where they can thrive and grow,” said Erinn Pinkerton, BC Transit President and Chief Executive Officer. “This honour is testament to the collective dedication, teamwork and energy shared at all levels of the organization. I could not be more proud of our team.”
BC’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, published by Mediacorp. To qualify, an employer must have its head office or principle place of business located in British Columbia. Winners are selected based on a number of criteria, including:
- physical workspace
- health, financial and family benefits
- training and skills development
- community involvement
As in years past, winners were announced in a special magazine supplement in the Vancouver Sun, and in an extended online feature at
www.vancouversun.com.
BC Transit offers employees a wide range of benefits and services through partnerships with our unions, Pacific Blue Cross and LifeWorks. This includes extended dental, health and pension plans, with a strong focus on both mental and physical health.
One of BC Transit’s many employee programs is Stay Onboard, which supports employees recovering from workplace or personal life injuries. The program helps people actively participate in their own recovery by developing a tailored stay at work plan in collaboration with their supervisor and health care provider. Since it launched in 2017, more than 1100 employees have participated in the program.
