BC Transit Makes Better Communication - Connections
Transit System: Global
25 February 2018
BC Transit is a world class public transportation provider; making
thousands of connections on the roads of British Columbia every day. Now it’s
working on improving connections in the way it communicates.
Check out “Connections” our media exchange on our website www.bctransit.com/connections,
with a live Twitter feed and a link to our Facebook fan page. On Connections
you will find BC Transit TV hosted by Meribeth Burton our Corporate Spokesperson.
Burton, a former veteran news anchor and reporter, will be touring the province
to get the inside scoop on BC Transit news-making stories.
Connections will also include video podcasts that profile BC Transit’s
senior leadership team who will share thoughts on trends and corporate hot topics
in their respective fields of expertise. Finally, Connections will allow browsers
to view Corporate Features. The features will showcase the inner workings of
the corporation with an eye to the steps BC Transit is taking to achieve the
goals of our 2030 Strategic Plan (www.bctransit.com/2030).
“BC Transit is an incredibly complex and dynamic organization with 81
systems servicing more than 130 communities across BC,” said BC Transit
President & CEO Manuel Achadinha. “Connections will be a critical tool
to share the many success stories at both the corporate and community level.”
We launch Connections with a BC Transit TV story on the return of driver call-outs
in Victoria. Our podcast pioneer is John Palmer, BC Transit Director of Safety
& Environment, with his insights into a safety management plan. And our
first Corporate Feature shines a spotlight on T-Comm, our new Transit Communications
centre and its focus on better communication between customers and our staff.
The media exchange is a cost-effective communication tool. For example, BC
Transit TV stories are recorded on an iPad. Burton writes, produces and edits
her own pieces.
Connections will go live on May 18, 2012. BC Transit expects our staff, government
supporters, regional stakeholders, operating partners and prospective employees
will spend time surfing our Connections portal. Our greatest hope that our riders
who so passionately promote public transit will find Connections a thrilling
insiders’ look at the many pathways that link of all BC Transit’s
services.
