BC Transit announces Transit Superstars across the province

GLOBAL – For their professionalism, teamwork and dedication to public transit in their communities, BC Transit is recognizing six individuals as our latest Transit Superstars.
“These people are the lifeblood of public transportation in BC Transit communities, and it’s our pleasure to honour them as Transit Superstars,” said Tim Croyle, Chief Operating Officer for BC Transit. “They go above and beyond every day to make a difference with customers and co-workers in their communities, and exemplify BC Transit’s core values.”
Every year, BC Transit recognizes excellence and celebrates the Transit Superstars making a positive difference in our regional transit systems across the province. Each winner meets one or more of BC Transit’s five core values: community, customer service, innovation, teamwork and trust & respect.
Here are the latest Transit Superstar award winners:
Shiloh Butchart – Fleet Management and Accounts Payable for Diversified Transportation Ltd. – Shiloh supports all drivers, leads by example and is crucial to the success of both the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek transit systems.
Hilary Erlebach – Transit Operator and Dispatcher for Quesnel Transit – Hilary jumped in on short notice to support her fellow drivers as a Dispatcher in 2019, and her positive and reassuring has been crucial in implementing COVID-19 procedures.
Carole Rausch – Office Manager for the Kimberley Transportation Society – For 30 years Carole has been the office manager. She is available day and night for support and is respected and appreciated by everyone in the Kimberley office.
Andy Szabo – Transit Operator for Prince George Transit Ltd. – Andy’s caring approach to his passengers, attention to detail and quick actions led to a life-saving event this March when he discovered a non-responsive person in distress at a transit exchange. He performed chest compressions until paramedics could arrive and transport the individual to the hospital, where he made a full recovery.
Don Singbeil – Paint and Body Shop with the Regional District of Nanaimo – Don is the winner of the annual Rodi De Vuono Award for Outstanding Service. He has been a reliable, dedicated and positive force for more than 25 years. Along with maintaining the Nanaimo fleet, Don has supported the BC Transit Fleet team in a number of larger initiatives in other transit systems.
Harry Ahola – Transit Operator for First Transit in Salmon Arm – The winner of the annual Mike Docherty Lifetime Achievement Award, Harry was the first driver in Salmon Arm 29 years ago, and he’s still going. His skills and performance as a handyDART driver are the benchmark that new drivers aspire to.
People working in the Victoria Regional Transit System are eligible for BC Transit’s Core Value Awards, which are handed out annually as part of the Recognizing Excellence and Values employee recognition program.
