Transit System: Comox Valley
BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) are announcing some construction related changes to the local transit system, effective April 1, 2024.
The Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project is a multi-year construction project that will cause traffic disruptions in the Town of Comox starting in April.
To minimize the impact of this project on transit users, the Comox Valley Regional District and BC Transit have developed a new transit schedule to ensure service can be maintained on-time and with a minimum of disruption across the network.
BC Transit will implement a phased approach to adjust to the impacts of this project through the stages of development.
Phase 1 begins on April 1, 2024, and includes the following adjustments:
- Route 1 Comox Mall/Anfield Centre via NIC will run every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the week. There will also be a minor service reduction on Saturdays.
- As a result of detours and delays, service on Route 3 Comox Local will be slightly reduced.
- Minor trip time adjustments due to the construction process are being made to Route 4 Driftwood Mall/Comox Mall via Comox Rd and Route 15 Comox Mall via Back Rd/Aquatic Centre via Back Rd.
- Minor scheduling changes are being made to other routes to help improve service reliability through the construction process.
BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District encourage drivers to consider using transit to reduce traffic congestion.
