BC Transit and Canada Day

VICTORIA – BC Transit encourages everyone to make the safe and sustainable transportation choice on Canada Day. Whether you are attending a small family gathering or checking out the Island’s largest celebration in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, take transit and leave driving and parking worries at home.

BC Transit will be operating at Saturday service levels on July 1, 2013 with late-night runs on routes #4, #6 and #14. Extra buses will be added to accommodate the thousands of people who will be attending the Victoria Celebrates Canada Day event. Please consult www.bctransit.com/regions/vic

The finale fireworks show typically ends by 10:30 pm, transit users are urged to quickly make their way to buses. Because of the many road closures in the downtown core, customers are urged to watch for street signage to indicate special event boarding locations along Douglas Street.

For the fourth consecutive year alcohol is prohibited on buses on Canada Day. In cooperation with the Victoria Police department, customers may be asked to prove they are in compliance.
