15 June 2026

BC Transit and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission are advising customers of a seasonal service change, effective June 29, 2026.

Due to planned construction on West Saanich Road, Route 85 North Saanich will be detoured around the area. This detour is expected to remain in place until the fall and includes the closure of six bus stops. There will be signage posted advising customers where to find the nearest open stop. While this construction is expected to begin later this summer, the transit detour will begin on June 29, 2026.

Minor seasonal adjustments are being made to reflect current demand and traffic conditions on the following routes:

  • Route 7 UVic/Downtown
  • Route 15 Esquimalt/UVic
  • Route 21 Interurban/Downtown

School trips on routes that serve K – 12 and post-secondary school will be seasonally discontinued.

Weekend trips will be added to Route 70 Swartz Bay/Downtown and Route 70X Swartz Bay/Downtown Express to align with the changing BC Ferries schedules and an increase in demand.

There will be increased afternoon service on Route 75 Saanichton/Royal Oak/Downtown between Butchart Gardens/Keating Cross and Downtown to reflect an increase in tourism and demand.

Route 17 Cedar Hill will be seasonally discontinued.

We encourage our customers to use the Umo app, Google Transit or any other app of their choice for real-time bus tracking and planning your next transit journey.
