BC Transit and the City of Powell River are announcing some minor changes to school serving transit routes, in response to public feedback, effective April 15, 2026.
For Westview Elementary students:
To better align with the school bell times, the following trips will be adjusted on Route 1:
- Route 1 to Grief Point: 7:52 am trip now departs at 7:57am
- Route 1 to Townsite: 8:50 am trip now departs at 8:45am
On school days these morning trips on Route 1 will now pass in front of Westview Elementary School for ease of access for school students. In addition, the 2:12pm Route 1 Grief Point and 3:00pm Route 1 Townsite trips will also deviate in front of Westview. All other Route 1 trips will remain travelling along Joyce.
For Brooks Secondary students:
One morning trip on Route 2 Wildwood Express will pass in front of Brooks Secondary School, enroute to Town Center.
There will also be one morning Route 1 trip added to serve Brooks Secondary School, departing Town Centre Exchange at 8:25am.
These trip changes will only occur on school days.
These changes are being made to reflect the public feedback received following last month’s major system restructuring in Powell River. We will continue to observe ridership patterns and consider feedback from our riders when making any future changes. We thank our customers for their patience.
