Service expansion and fare change for Cowichan Valley transit
Transit System: Cowichan Valley
4 December 2025
BC Transit and the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) are announcing a service expansion and fare change, effective January 4, 2026.
Sunday service will be introduced on Route 66 Cowichan-Victoria Express (CVX), making inter-regional service available 7 days a week between the Cowichan Valley and Victoria. Select trips on Route 66 CVX will provide connections with Route 70 Nanaimo-Cowichan Express (NCX).
This service expansion in the Cowichan Valley Transit System has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding. The operating grant provided in the 2025-26 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and its local government partners to continue to provide safe and reliable service and demonstrates that public transit remains a priority in our communities.
Trip times on Route 6 Crofton-Chemainus and Route 36 Ladysmith-Duncan Express will be adjusted providing key connections to Route 66 CVX on weekdays.
Service to Arbutus Ridge via Route 8 Mill Bay/Duncan and Route 9 Mill Bay/Duncan will be discontinued.
Effective January 4, 2026, the fare for a single ride will increase to $2.50, an Adult 30-Day Pass will be $55, and a Concession 30-Day Pass will cost $42.
