Fixed-route and inter-regional services resuming October 6 in Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System
Transit System: Cowichan Valley
1 October 2025
BC Transit is notifying its riders in the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System that all fixed-route local transit service and inter-regional service to and from Victoria will be resuming on Monday, October 6. This follows the resumption of handyDART service in the region on September 29.
Before service can resume all buses must undergo a thorough inspection, necessary maintenance work, cleaning and on-road testing for return to service. It’s also important for Transit Operators to refresh their training to ensure a safe resumption of service. This is the standard procedure when resuming operations after an extended period of time away from day-to-day service.
Once service resumes, BC Transit acknowledges that there may be some temporary challenges in meeting full scheduled service as we complete the essential steps to restore operations, and some trip cancellations may occur. Service impacts will be communicated to customers through customers alerts as soon as trip cancellations are confirmed. We recognize the frustration this may cause and appreciate the ongoing patience of our customers as service resumes.
To thank the community for its continued patience and understanding during the service suspension and restart, the Cowichan Valley Regional District is offering temporary discounts on several Umo fare products and 10-ticket handyDART passes, available through October 31:
