How to Purchase Fare Products
BC Transit offers a variety of fare products depending on your transit system. Some fare products are only valid on fixed-route scheduled service with On-Request and Health Connections requiring separate fares. Check the fares page to confirm fare product options available in your system.
If available, fare products can be purchased in person at a BC Transit retail vendor, or, in select systems, directly from the bus driver. Visit the Where to Buy page to confirm availability.
How To Pay When You Board
You can pay your Single Ride fare using cash or you can use a pre-purchased Fare Product to board.
A Single Ride fare lets you board a bus and transfer once for free, as long as you board the next bus within 90 minutes of your original departure time. Transfers are not transferable between customers or systems and are only valid on local fixed-route service unless explicitly stated. Visit the transfers page to confirm transfer rules in your system.
Pay with Cash
- Have exact change ready to pay your Single Ride fare.
- Insert coins or bills into the farebox to deposit payment.
- Request a paper transfer from the driver if you need to board a second bus. Keep this transfer to show your next driver.
Pay with Fare Products
- If you’re using a pass, you’ll need to show it to your driver for visual validation.
- Tickets can be put in the fare box. Make sure to request a paper transfer from the driver if you need to board a second bus. Keep this transfer to show your next driver.
