Transit service is funded through three main sources: provincial contributions, local government contributions and passenger fares. Transit service levels and budgets are approved each year by the local government, who also set fares and local transit property taxes, account for transit revenue and maintain local transit infrastructure (e.g. bus stops, shelters and benches).
