How to Pay

Have your payment ready before you step on the bus. You can pay with cash. If you are using Umo, you can pay with the app, or your Umo card. 

Paying with cash

  • Make sure you have exact change. 
  • Insert coins into the slot at the top of the farebox. 
  • If you are using a bill, place it into the scanner on top of the farebox. 

Using the Umo app

  • Open the app and select Show Code to show your QR code. 
  • Hold your QR code in front of the centre of the Umo validator. 
  • You will see a green check mark and hear a beep when your fare is accepted. 

Using a Umo card

  • Tap your card on the base of the validator. 
  • You will see a green check mark and hear a beep when your fare is accepted.

Umo Cash Balance

Cash Balances are deducted from Umo as trips are taken. Cash Balance payments are automatically capped after your second payment of the day. Once capped, you can continue to validate a Umo app or card aboard the bus without incurring an additional charge.

A Cash Balance can be purchased:

  • In the Umo app
  • In-person at a BC Transit retail vendor
  • Online at ca.umopass.com
  • By calling Umo customer service at 877-380-8181

A Cash Balance can be loaded from $5.00 and up.
