Your handyDART driver is here to help you travel safely. They will:
- Help you on and off the vehicle using the stairs, lift or ramp
- Secure car seats, wheelchairs, walkers and scooters
- Help you with your seat belt
- Assist you to and from accessible entrance doors
Drivers are not able to:
- Search buildings or other areas for you
- Move wheelchairs on stairs or unsafe ramps
- Carry your parcels
- Look through your bag for your fare
Wheelchair, Scooter and Mobility Aid Guidelines
handyDART vehicles have side ramps or rear lifts that fit most wheelchairs and scooters. Your device must meet size, weight and safety standards. Contact handyDART or check the Mobility Aid Guide to make sure your device fits.
Using the Lift or Ramp
If you use a wheelchair or scooter, you’ll board and exit using the lift or ramp. Some ambulatory customers may also use the lift if space and securement areas allow.
Assistance Animal
Certified assistance animals are always welcome on BC Transit services. Your animal must wear a harness or leash while travelling. For more information on pets, visit the General Information page.
Transporting Children
Children under six must travel with an adult. If a child weighs less than 18 kg (40 lbs), the accompanying adult must bring a CSA-approved car seat.
