Transit Future in Fort St John

In 2023, BC Transit in partnership with the City of Fort St. John is developing a Transit Future Service Plan for the community. A Transit Future Service Plan (TFSP) is a strategic document that helps guide decisions on transit service and infrastructure in the short to medium-term. The 2023 Fort St. John TFSP will focus on the core Fort St. John routes: 1 Northside, 2 Southside, 3 Central-Prospect Park, 4 Southeast, and 5 Southwest. The TFSP will present updated transit service and infrastructure priorities for Fort St. John. The TFSP will uphold community goals and objectives to strengthen the link between transportation and land use in support of sustainable growth. The TFSP will also serve to inform any future local or regional transportation plans.

Public engagement is expected to start in the spring of 2023. More information about the public engagement and how to participate to come.

Why do we need Transit Future?

Transit Future guides transit investment that is supportive of livable communities, through:

  • Offering more transportation choice
  • Supporting smart land use plans that focus on walking, cycling and transit
  • Meeting climate change goals
  • Making it easy to access everyday services on foot, by bike and by transit

Help us Plan Your Future

Population and traffic growth means we need to shift our focus from moving cars to moving people. To minimize the high economic, environmental and social costs of traffic congestion and road expansion, we must move people more efficiently. Transportation should take us where we want to go, when we want to go there. To create an efficient system, we need your input.
