Schedules, Maps and Trip Planning Tools

Planning your trip is easy with BC Transit. You can look up schedules online, download them to your device, or plan your journey on a mobile app. This page walks you through your options, whether you have internet access or not.

Find Schedules and Maps Online

Plan your journey with printable schedules and maps at bctransit.com

How to view your route

  1. Go to bctransit.com
  2. Choose your transit system.
  3. Select Schedules and Maps from the homepage or the main menu.
  4. Enter your route or route number in the search box and click FIND A ROUTE, or select SEE ALL ROUTES.
  5. Choose weekday, Saturday, or Sunday to view full schedules.
  6. To see the return trip, select the change direction button below the map.

Printing your schedule

If you’d like a printed copy:

  1. Open your route on bctransit.com.
  2. Select the Print button at the top right of the schedule.
  3. In your print settings, set the layout to Landscape.

Download the Rider’s Guide (PDF)

Many systems also offer a full Rider’s Guide in PDF format.

  1. Go to bctransit.com.
  2. Choose your transit system.
  3. Select Rider Info from the top menu.
  4. Choose the Rider’s Guide to open it.
  5. Use your browser’s print or download icons.

No data or internet? Here Are Your Options

If you’re travelling without data or internet, you can still plan your trip.

1: Use the Transit App

Transit is our endorsed partner app for trip planning. It works offline and gives you access to schedules even when you’re not connected. See Interactive trip planning on mobile device/tablet

2: Save a Screenshot

Before you leave home, take a screenshot of your schedule or map and save it to your device.

3: Print your schedule or map

Use the print steps above to bring a paper copy with you.

    4: Download or print the Rider’s Guide

    Find and print the PDF guide for your system before you go.

      5: Contact your local transit system*

      1. Head to bctransit.com
      2. Choose your transit system
      3. Select Contact on the homepage menu (see top of the page)
      4. From the drop-down menu at the top of the form, select Make a General Inquiry
      5. Fill in the form and make sure to request a transit representative contacts you in response to your inquiry – then click Submit Feedback

      *Please note, it may be several days before you are contacted.


      Advisories and Alerts

      Check for service disruptions, detours, or schedule changes before you travel. You can also subscribe to receive alerts by email or text message (where available).

      1: Check advisories/alerts before your journey

      1. Go to alerts.bctransit.com
      2. Choose your transit system.
      3. Select a route or choose ALL to view every active alert.

      2: Subscribe to Email or Text Alerts

      Stay updated on the routes that matter to you.

      1. Go to alerts.bctransit.com
      2. Select ‘Login’ in the top menu.
      3. Fill out the registration form
      4. Choose ‘Register Now’ and create an account.
      5. Confirm your registration through the email you receive.

      Once your account is active:

      1. Log in and select My Account
      2. Choose ‘Subscriptions’ from the left-hand navigation links
      3. Select ‘Create Alert Subscription’
      4. Choose your transit system and route
      5. Select Create
      6. Choose ‘Delivery Settings’ from the left-hand navigation links
      7. Choose Delivery Settings to select email or text message. Please note that Text Message delivery is only enabled for certain Transit Systems
      8. Save your changes.

      Interactive trip planning Tools

      BC Transit publishes real-time data that supports several third-party apps. These apps help you plan your trip, check schedules, track buses, and stay informed about service changes.

      SMS Schedule Notifications (Victoria Only)

      If you’re riding in Victoria and don’t have data, you can check the next buses arriving at your stop by text message.

      How to use SMS Next Bus

      1. Text your six-digit stop ID (e.g. 100032) to 11111,
      2. You will receive a reply that lists the next 4 buses scheduled to arrive at your stop, including their estimated arrival times.
      3. If you’re at stop on multiple routes and would only like to see times for a specific route, text your stop ID followed by the route number, e.g. 100150 27
      4. For help using the service, text HELP to 11111

      Locating the six-digit stop ID

      • Look at the top right corner of the bus stop sign.
      • You can also find it on Google Maps (desktop) by searching the stop.

      Offline trip planning for riders without data/internet

      If you’re travelling without internet access, several tools can help you plan ahead.

      1: Rider’s Guide

      Contact your local transit system for a printed Rider’s Guide.

      2: Bus stops

      Route schedules are displayed at transit exchanges and most bus stops throughout BC Transit communities.

      3. Ask Your Driver

      If you’re unsure, your driver or a fellow rider can help you find the right bus.

      To find out about routes, schedule information or give feedback about your transit experience, connect with your local transit office by phone.

      Automated Phone Schedules (Victoria Only)

      1. Dial 250-382-6161 (Transit Info Line)
      2. Input your Stop ID and route number at the prompt
      3. This service informs customers of the estimated arrival times for the next five buses at their stop.
