handyDART transit service resuming September 29 in Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System

Details on resumption of service dates for fixed-route local transit service and Cowichan Valley inter-regional service to and from Victoria coming soon

BC Transit is notifying its handyDART riders in the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System that service will be resuming in the coming days.

Service for handyDART in the region will resume on Monday, September 29, and customers can begin booking trips immediately. BC Transit recognizes the frustrations this labour dispute has caused, and the significant impact it has had on handyDART customers.

Resumption of service dates are still being determined for both fixed-route local transit service within the Cowichan Valley and inter-regional service to and from Victoria on the Route 66 Cowichan-Victoria Express and Route 99 Shawnigan Lake-Victoria Express.

Before service resumes all buses must undergo a thorough inspection, necessary maintenance work, cleaning and on-road testing for return to service. It’s also important for Transit Operators to refresh their training to ensure a safe resumption of service. This is the standard procedure when resuming operations after an extended period of time away from day-to-day service.
