Social media community guidelines

At BC Transit, we love connecting with our riders online. Our social media channels are here to share updates, answer questions, and celebrate the communities we serve. We encourage open and respectful conversation. We also ask that everyone follow a few simple guidelines to help keep our spaces welcoming and safe for all.

Be respectful

Treat others the way you want to be treated. Please be courteous, honest, and kind when interacting with us or other community members. We’re here to help, and constructive conversation is the best way to achieve this.

Keep it family-friendly

We want our online spaces to be comfortable for everyone. Posts or comments may be removed if they:

  • Break any laws – be it local, provincial, national or internation. Your post will also be deleted if it encourages illegal activity
  • Violations of the law include, but are not limited to, posting copyrighted material, impersonation, harassment, or abusive behaviour
  • Contains offensive, hateful, or indecent language
  • Make false or unproven claims about individuals or organizations
  • Share misleading information or violate personal privacy
  • Constitutes spam or marketing. Our social media pages are a place to talk BC Transit – not to promote your business.
  • Are clearly off-topic or contain excessive links
  • Is in any way in violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

While we hate to do it, we also reserve the right to suspend or permanently block users who repeatedly disregard these guidelines.

Our online hours

Our social media channels are monitored Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays. We do our best to respond to messages as quickly as possible during those hours.
