Service expansion and fare changes coming to Comox Valley
Transit System: Comox Valley
1 December 2025
BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) are announcing a service expansion and fare change, effective January 1, 2026.
As part of this service expansion, the route 5 Vanier/Anfield will be expanded to provide more daytime trips and new routing through West Courtenay along Cumberland, McPhee, 17th, Piercy and 26th to Driftwood Mall and Anfield Centre, seven days a week. This significantly expanded route provides improved service to the Comox Valley Sports Centre, GP Vanier Secondary, the Comox Valley Farmers Market and the Comox Valley Food Bank. Sunday service will also see improvement on Route 2 Cumberland, Route 6 Uplands and Route 8 Downtown.
This service expansion in the Comox Valley Regional Transit System has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding. The operating grant provided in the 2025-26 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and its local government partners to continue to provide safe and reliable service and demonstrates that public transit remains a priority in the region.
Following a routine fare review, the CVRD Board approved the first fare change since 2018. The single ride fare will increase to $2.75, while the fare for an Adult 30-Day Pass will be $60 and the fare for a Concession 30-Day Pass will be $40.The more modest increase on 30-day passes ensures that fares remain affordable for regular users and means that if riders use transit to travel more than 11 days in a 30 day period, savings can be achieved by purchasing the 30-day pass. For Concession Pass holders, the savings can be achieved after seven days of use.
