{"id":572,"date":"2026-03-02T14:22:54","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T22:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bctransit.com\/williams-lake\/?page_id=572"},"modified":"2026-03-02T14:26:42","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T22:26:42","slug":"taxi-saver","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bctransit.com\/williams-lake\/riderinfo\/handydart\/taxi-saver\/","title":{"rendered":"Taxi Saver"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If handyDART cannot meet your travel request, the Taxi Saver program gives you another way to get around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many riders use a mix of fixed route, handyDART, and Taxi Saver depending on their trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To use Taxi Saver, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a permanently registered handyDART customer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be 12 years of age or older<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a handyPASS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">handyPASS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A handyPASS is a photo ID card for permanent handyDART customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need a handyPASS to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Buy and use Taxi Saver coupons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take Taxi Saver taxi trips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel with an attendant on fixed route so your attendant can ride free<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply, include a passport photo with your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bctransit.com\/williams-lake\/riderinfo\/handydart\/register\/\">handyDART registration<\/a>\u00a0application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bctransit.com\/williams-lake\/fares\/\">fares page<\/a>\u00a0for fixed route and handyDART pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\n\tTaxi Saver<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Taxi Saver vouchers help cover the cost of one time taxi trips when handyDART is not available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Available only to permanently registered handyDART riders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides a 50 percent subsidy on taxi fares<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requires a handyPASS to use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\n\tBooking a Taxi Saver Trip<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\tTo book a taxi saver trip, call your local area taxi company directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>How to Purchase Taxi Saver Coupons<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need a handyPASS to buy and use Taxi Saver coupons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible riders can buy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An $80 package of coupons for $40<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One package per month<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coupons in $1, $2, and $5 values<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Use Taxi Saver Coupons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Book your taxi directly with a participating company. Confirm they accept Taxi Saver vouchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When booking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tell the dispatcher it is a Taxi Saver trip<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let them know if you need a wheelchair accessible vehicle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Use coupons to pay the metered fare. If the fare is $5.80, you pay $5.00 in coupons and $0.80 in cash.
