Based on what we heard during public engagement activities held as part of the Transit Future Plan and the Service Review, these are the priorities for transit improvements to the Burnside/Tillicum area:
  • Simplification in the number of routes
  • Emphasis on crosstown routes with more frequent services that intersect Douglas
  • Direct service between key destinations and neighbourhood centres
To address these priorities, goals of the Burnside/Tillicum Local Transit Plan include:
  1. Consolidating service redundancy across multiple routes so that service levels are more evident
  2. Re-alignment in routes to provide more direct service between key destinations and neighbourhood centres.
  3. Identifying future neighbourhood service and infrastructure improvement priorities

This process allows us to develop service improvements before we finalize the plan for endorsement by the Victoria Regional Transit Commission. Once endorsed, BC Transit will start to implement changes to improve the transit system.
