Campbell River Maintenance and Operations Facility Project

BC Transit is working with the Government of Canada, Province of BC, and City of Campbell River to create a new maintenance and operations facility for the Campbell River Transit System.

The new facility will be located at 1235 Evergreen Road. It will be the hub for transit activity in the community. The Facility will have on-site administration offices, maintenance bays, space for a future compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling facility, a fueling bay, wash station, storm water detention area and parking for up to 50 buses.

The new facility will help support the increasing popularity of sustainable public transportation in the region. Since 2000, Campbell River ridership has risen over 91 per cent, increasing from 327,885 to 627,374 trips taken annually.

The project represents a $15 million commitment in Campbell River transit, and will position the city to meet future demands for transportation in the region, in addition to improving operational efficiency. The new facility is part of the almost $160 million in federal and provincial funding for BC Transit projects that was first announced in June 2016.
