Victoria Regional Rapid Transit Local Funding Options
Transit Future

Detailed Design and Technology Evaluation

In preparing a Business Case for approval and implementation, the following scenarios is undergoing a deep examination known as a Multiple Account Evaluation (“MAE”):

  • “Business as Usual”
  • Preferred Alignment – Road-based Rapid Transit (BRT or Bus Rapid Transit)
  • Preferred Alignment – Rail-based Rapid Transit (Tram/Streetcar)

Using established evaluation models widely adopted elsewhere in North America and the world, the process is examining an extensive list of criteria (“accounts”) to reach an “all things considered” final recommendation. Click here for further information about the MAE and some of the key factors being evaluated.

The MAE is essential to the Business Case which, when completed and approved, will become the blueprint for Rapid Transit in the Greater Victoria area.

Click on the boxes below for details on each stage of the process. For additional project information, just follow the links on the left side of the page.
