Rapid Transit

The Future is Now — Rapid Transit in the Victoria Region.

BC Transit is working with the Capital Regional District and the 13 local municipalities to develop a plan for transit over the next 25 years. This Transit Future plan will meet the needs for an attractive, efficient, high-capacity transit service that can support and link sustainable communities.

The Victoria Transit Future Plan will outline a number of future Rapid Transit lines to improve:

  • travel time,
  • reliability,
  • passenger comfort and
  • convenience along an exclusive right of way.

Rapid Transit provides frequent, high-capacity service but does not substitute or replace local bus service or commuter rail. It is one of many transit options available ensuring safe, convenient, reliable, and green alternatives to automobile travel. The Victoria Regional Rapid Transit Project

With growth in the West Shore area contributing to significant increases in vehicular traffic entering Victoria during the past decade. BC Transit, in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the Capital Regional District, is seeking to improve rapid transit linkages into Victoria from the West Shore. For details on this project please visit the Victoria Regional Rapid Transit project website.
