RapidBus
Direct, efficient, convenient: RapidBus service in Central Okanagan.
RapidBus starts service in Kelowna on September 5, 2010.
The first phase begins, connecting downtown Kelowna to UBCO. Using limited stops, HOV lanes, and transit signal priority, transit customers can let BC Transit do the work, and enjoy the convenience of having direct, limited-stop service along Highway 97 every 15 minutes during peak hours.
RapidBus is a transit system that provides frequent, high capacity service along designated high traffic routes. RapidBus is designed to improve:
- Travel time
- Reliability
- Passenger comfort
- Convenience
With the introduction of the first phase of RapidBus, other changes to the Kelowna Regional transit system have improved efficiency:
- The service change will simplify the functions of routes and create a fast, frequent, direct service on the 97 Rapid bus line between Queensway and UBCO.
- The routes 8 University and 10 Rutland have changed, providing local service on their respective corridors.
- The plan also includes direct service to the Kelowna Airport on the route 23 Lake Country, minor changes to the routes 7 Glenmore and schedule maintenance changes.
