The 25-year Transit Future Plan for Chilliwack and the surrounding area was approved in early 2013.
It establishes the following goals and objectives:
- High frequency transit along the Yale/Vedder corridor
- Direct North-South connection along Evans
- Responsible investment in transit to increase ridership.
BC Transit, the City of Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley Regional District are hosting a series of Open Houses (details below) to solicit public input on the short-term plan for the next two years.

August 3, 2012 Draft Report Completed
Thanks again to all who joined us at the Chilliwack Transit Future open houses or who filled in a survey online. The online survey is now closed.
Weve now summarized all feedback and completed the draft report and executive summary.

The final rounds of open houses are scheduled for February 27 - March 1. Participants will be able to view proposed transit service changes in Chilliwack scheduled for summer 2012, and longer term changes for Chilliwack, Agassiz, Harrison and Hope. This is the final opportunity to provide feedback on the 25-year Transit Future Plan.

The following list shows the order that each service should be implemented, or increased if the service already exists (for example, Chilliwack-Agassiz-Harrison). Each service implementation or increase poses unique challenges that must be overcome prior to the start of the service.

Staff from Chilliwack, Agassiz, Harrison and Hope met with other Fraser Valley communities, Translink and BC Transit on August 31, 2011 to discuss strategies to serve future inter-regional and regional travel. Participants reviewed updated travel information, demographic projections and employment trends to determine future bus routes and service levels. Results of this workshop will be posted soon!
June 20, 2011 Phase One Results
We have reviewed all the input you provided on the Transit Future Bus, online, in person and through the online survey. The feedback has been summarized in a short report.
The Transit Future team is now providing updates to local Councils and will then review and confirm the 25-year transit network vision. Once this is agreed upon by all project partners, it will be posted here. Stay tuned!

Thank you to those who came out to see us on the Transit Future bus:
- Over 150 people visited the bus
- We received nearly 100 comments on the interactive displays
- Nearly 200 played participated in the online survey
While we consider every comment, here are the ones we heard the most:
- Fast, direct regional service connecting the Fraser Valley
- Connecting to greater Vancouver
- Connecting to Hope
- Improving local service in Chilliwack with increased frequency and service hours
- New service connecting Abbotsford and Chilliwack
- Improved safety and security

The Transit Future bus began its tour of the Chilliwack Region today! The 40-foot bus is our mobile public consultation tool, seeking input to help shape the 25-year Transit Future plan for the region. Read the full release.
The Transit Future bus is full of information on the local transit system. There are also many opportunities for you to provide direct feedback. December 16, 2010 - Fraser Valley Transit Study Released
The Province, in cooperation with the Fraser Valley Regional District, BC Transit and Translink, initiated a study of transit in the Fraser Valley to study current and future transit service. With input from local governments and the public, the study presents a strategy to improve service and encourage more people to choose transit over driving.
This document establishes the long range vision for the region and for local service in Mission, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. The Transit Future Plan will determine how local and regional service will transform over the next several years to achieve the vision.
