bus rapid transit

Bus Rapid Transit
Bus rapid transit is an increasingly popular means of introducing rapid transit in a cost effective and flexible manner. Bus rapid transit combines the flexibility of bus service with the high frequency, capacity and service quality of rail transit.

Bus rapid transit generally consists of:

  • branded vehicles
  • designated stations and terminals
  • information and ticketing systems
  • frequency, consistent service
  • specially designated running ways, transit priority treatments

BC Transit's plan for advancing bus rapid transit service is in the Library Section.
