Cedar Hill Community Recreation Centre, 3220 Cedar Hill Rd.

All are welcome to drop-in or choose from a wide variety of programs suited for all ages. Cedar Hill features indoor tennis, squash, fitness classes and a weight room, pottery studio, the New Horizons Club for seniors and child-minding services.

Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre, 2275 Quadra Street.

Esquimalt's Archie Browning Sports Centre, 1151 Esquimalt Road.

Hockey, curling and ice skating are the big draws. In summer, lacrosse and roller hockey take over one rink.

Gordon Head Recreation Centre, 4100 Lambrick Way.

This centre is wheelchair accessible, and offers a variety of youth and children's programs including swim lessons, daily preschool and licensed out of school care programs. The Youth Activity Centre provides scheduled and drop-in activities, as well as a skateboarding and rollerblading park. The main pool boasts the warmest water in Victoria, and offers a 25-metre lane, rope swing, climbing wall, slide, stairs and wheelchair lift. There's also a whirlpool, sauna and steamroom for adults. Additional services include a strength training centre, aerobic and waterfit schedule, a chip trail for walkers and runners and a rehabilitation program.

Juan De Fuca Recreation Centre, 1767 Island Hwy.

This full-service centre in the City of Colwood is the place to swim, skate, curl and workout in the 325-sq-metre weight room. Special features include a velodrome, Par 3 nine-hole golf course, six concrete tennis courts, lawn bowling, basketball court, baseball diamond and a 1.5-kilometre chip trail.

Oak Bay Recreation Centre, 1975 Bee Street.

The Oak Bay Recreation Centre offers swimming, skating, a fitness centre, various fitness programs and a childminding service. The facility is accessible to persons with a disability.

Take the #11 to Cadboro & Bee St. or take the #7 to Foul Bay Road & Fort St. and walk one block to Bee St.

Panorama Leisure Centre, 1885 Forest Park Drive.

This "leisure" centre offers regular special events, fitness programs, an ice arena, pool, weight room and raquet sports.

Pearkes Recreation Centre, 3100 Tillicum Road.

Skating and curling are the featured activities at Pearkes. You can also play indoor tennis and lawn bowling, or drop in on aerobic, strength and weight programs. A Youth Centre and children's programs are also available.

Saanich Commonwealth Place, Elk Lake Drive.

Whether you're coming to relax or to work out, this is the place to do it. The facility offers a 50-metre Olympic-size pool, waves and waterslides, sauna, steam room and hot tub, a weight room, specialty fitness programs and kids program. The Bruce Hutchinson Library is housed within the complex.

Take the #6, or the #30 #31 to the Royal Oak Exchange and walk north on Elk Lake Drive approximately 2 blocks.

Save-on-Foods Memorial Arena

7,000 seat arena.

Take the #6 to the corner of Quadra & Caledonia or any downtown bus to the corner of Douglas & Chatham, walk east one block on Chatham to Blanshard & Caledonia.

YM-YWCA Downtown location, 880 Courtney.

Take a break from sightseeing and pop into the "Y". The popular fitness studio has a full range of cardio conditioning and strength training equipment, squash and racquetball courts, a 10 metre and 25 metre pools. After your workout, pop into the cafeteria for a cinnamon bun! This location also includes a women's residence.

Amusement Park

All Fun Recreation Park/Waterslides, 2207 Millstream Road.

This is the place for thrills and spills. All Fun offers mini golf and a driving range, two go kart tracks, a battling cage and an arcade. Adjacent to Western Speedway (with Vancouver Island's largest flea market Sunday mornings) and an RV park.
