BC Transit's YouthPASS offers unlimited travel throughout
the transit region for riders aged 6 to 18 years.

What do I Need to Know about YouthPASS?
- To qualify, you must be 6 to 18 years old.
- The pass is available at a reduced monthly rate of $35
a month for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months.
This is a prepaid pass: All months must be paid for at the
time of purchase. When your pass expires, simply renew it.
- The YouthPASS is valid from the beginning of a month to
the end of a month for a minimum of six months to a a maximum
of twelve months. If it is part way through the month and
you wish to start using your pass immediately, you can activate
your pass for an extra charge of $1.25 a day for the remainder
of the current month.
- August and September are very busy months for the YouthPASS
office. We will try to return your call in one business
day.
- You must make an appointment before coming
in for your YouthPASS photo.
- When you leave a message at the YouthPASS office, always
leave your daytime telephone number.
- YouthPASS is not valid on handyDART.
First Time YouthPASS?
Just call the YouthPASS Coordinator at 250-995-5682 and make
an appointment to have your photo taken. Leave a
message with your name and daytime telephone number.
Once you have your time and date confirmed, you will go to
the BC Transit office at 520 Gorge Road East with your proof
of age, completed application
and a form of payment (cheque, cash, Interac or credit cards).
You will need to bring government identification indicating
your birth date, such as a driver’s licence, passport, birth
certificate, BC ID or CareCard.
The YouthPASS Clerk will take your picture and give you your
new YouthPASS. It's as simple as that!
YouthPASS Renewal
Renewing your YouthPASS is easy. Call 250-995-5682, tell
us the name on the YouthPASS (please spell it out), and your
daytime telephone number. We will also need to know how long
you wish to renew for (start and end dates) - remember it's
a minimum of six months.
Your new pass will be ready for pick up by 1 p.m. on the
next business day. Drop by the BC Transit office at 520 Gorge
Road East to pick up your new card. The office is open Monday
to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
You will recieve a new card with a new expiry date. The card
will show the same photo you've got now. Your old card will
expire on the date shown, and will no longer be valid on the
bus.
Photo Update
New photos are taken every two years. If it has been two
years since your last photo, you will need to make an appointment.
Lost Passes
Please contact the lost and found department at 250-995-5637
for lost or stolen passes. If the pass is not in the lost
and found, and requires immediate replacement, contact 250-995-5682.
A $25 replacement fee applies.

You may pay by cheque, cash or Interac or credit cards.

School Visits
For added convenience to students and families, BC Transit
will take YouthPass photos at participating schools in September.
On the day of the photo shoot, the student must bring:
- a cheque for $315.00 made out to BC Transit
- valid I.D. showing students date of birth, (must
be 18 and under)
- a completed application form signed by a parent or guardian
available from the school
YouthPasses will be distributed by the school at the end
of September.

Family Travel
Kids 12 and under ride FREE anytime when travelling with
their parent or guardian. The adult simply pays the fare using
a monthly pass, DayPASS, ProPASS, U-PASS or BC Bus Pass. Up
to four kids can travel with one adult.
Definition of Youth for Discount Fares
The discount fare will be offered to anyone 18 years and
under.
If you appear 19 years or older, the transit operator will
ask you for proof of age. Identification includes: driver's
licence, passport, birth certificate, BC ID, CareCard or equivalent
ID validated by any national, provincial or state government
agency
