Fare ZonesEffective 1 April 2008The two-zone fare will be eliminated, and a single fare will be available throughout the region, from Sooke to Sidney. Full sheets of two-zone tickets can be refunded at the BC Transit office. There is no expiry date on the two-zone tickets. A two-zone ticket is worth $3.00 towards fare and may be used at the cash value to pay for more than one fare. TransfersTransfers are proof of payment that tells the transit operator you have paid your fare. A transfer allows a passenger to use more than one bus for a period of up to 60 minutes. When you pay your fare, ask your transit operator for a transfer. If you need to use more than one bus to complete your trip and are using cash or tickets as fare payment, you will need a transfer to board the connecting bus. Youth PassBC Transit offers a special pass for youth throughout the school year. For a minimum six-month purchase, the YouthPass offers unlimited travel throughout the transit region for riders aged 6 to 18 years. Click here for details. Definition of "Youth" for Discount FaresThe discount fare is offered to anyone 18 years and younger. Youth will no longer need to be enrolled in high school to ride for the discount fare. If you appear 19 years or older, the transit operator will ask you for proof of age. ID includes: driver's license, passport, birth certificate, BC ID, CareCard or equivalent ID validated by any national, provincial or state government agency. College FaresPost-Secondary Institution PassesBC Transit in partnership with local institutions offers reduced price monthly passes through on-campus sales. Post-secondary institutions may apply to BC Transit to sell regular adult monthly bus passes to qualifying students for a discount. To qualify for the pass, students must be in attendance full time for a minimum of three months at a post-secondary educational institution in the Greater Victoria region. Full time attendance is defined as 20 hours per week in attendance at the institution for a minimum of three months. Institutions must sign an agreement with BC Transit and act as pass vendors to qualifying students. The semester fee is mandatory for all UVic and Camosun students. For more information, students should consult their student society representatives. Save on FaresTickets: Save when you buy a sheet of 10 tickets. DayPASS: You may use a DayPASS as many times in one day as you wish. If you plan to take several trips in a day, you will save money by using a DayPASS. Monthly Pass: When you purchase a monthly pass, you have unlimited travel on the transit system for a month for the same price as 16 return trips (adult fare). ProPASS: Your permanent ticket to rideThe idea is simple a perpetual bus pass purchased at work by payroll deduction for a minimum of one year. The PROPASS program is now being marketed to all major employers in the Victoria region. If you would like to see this program considered for your place of work, discuss it with your employer or call BC Transit at 995-5682 for program details. Family TravelYouth aged 12 and younger ride free anytime when travelling with their parent or guardian. The adult simply pays the fare using a monthly pass, DayPass, ProPass, U-Pass or BC Bus Pass.
