This section includes all forms and information sheets, eligibility criteria for handyDART, and details on free orientation and Community Travel Training.

You may be eligible for handyDART door-to-door transit services if you are unable to use the low-floor bus without assistance all, or some of the time.

Are you eligible for handyDART service? Persons eligible for door-to-door transit service are:

  • Persons with disabilities, as defined under the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act;
  • Persons with permanent or temporary disabilities, who are physically unable to use conventional transit without assistance; such disabilities may need to be confirmed by a medical practitioner.

We use the following criteria to determine eligibility:

  • Mobility and agility skills such as:
    • Inability to walk three city blocks
    • Inability to stand for 15 minutes
    • Inability to walk up and down stairs
    • Inability to sit and rise, without assistance
  • Cognitive skills, such as:
    • Inability to plan a bus trip
    • Inability to travel unaccompanied outside home
  • Medical conditions, such as:
    • Heart condition
    • Respiratory condition
  • Sensory skills, such as
    • Inability to see signs or notices
    • Inability to ask for directions, verbally or in writing
  • If your medical condition or disability is chronic.
