In our community, several types of transit service work together to provide accessible transportation. On the regular, fixed-route transit system a fleet of Low-floor buses provide wheelchair and scooter accessible service on transit routes throughout the region. Low-floor buses have no steps. They are equipped with a ramp, and have a kneeling feature that lowers the entry level for easier access. handyDART is a transportation service for persons who have a disability that is sufficiently severe that the person is physically unable to use conventional transit service without assistance. The Taxi Supplement Program is a service that enables the handyDART operator to dispatch trips by taxi to handyDART passengers at times when handyDART cannot accommodate all trip requests. |
