BC Transit is committed to identifying, evaluating and adopting new technologies that support our environment and improve public transit.

BC Transit's Clean Transportation Technology Initiative supports British Columbia's Climate Action Plan and the Provincial Transit Plan by acquiring new clean energy buses to help reduce emissions.

In September, BC Transit in Victoria will receive a prototype hydrogen fuel cell bus for testing and evaluation. The evaluation will include testing for fuel consumption, maintenance, reliability and overall performance.

Hydrogen fuel cell buses produce zero greenhouse gas tailpipe emissions, are fuel efficient and provide an alternative fuel use option.
